SCR 001 Passed!

I am so excited about this!

On February 16, 2024, Senate Concurrent Resolution 001 was signed by Governor Cox.

What does that mean?

A concurrent resolution is akin to a bill, which becomes law, except that it doesn’t require the signature of the Governor to ratify its validity. It’s basically an agreement that the legislators decide to support, and this one won the FULL support of both the Senate and the House.

A few weeks prior, I had emailed Senator Fillmore asking him if we could create a bill that supports our school support staff and classified employees. Later, at a Senate Education Committee Meeting, Senator Fillmore presented this Concurrent Resolution and I was able to give public comment on it.

And now it’s passed, and even signed by our Governor.

We all know how our support staff and classified employees are the ones who help the school run smoothly, cleanly and efficiently. They support our children, help our parents, and facilitate the workings of the school for our teachers and administrators. We need them!!

I am so excited to have been part of this process to honor and celebrate our fantastic support staff and classified employees!!
